[ Stduio Numbr pages' contents continue to evolve. Stories in, on, over and around the numbrs, part of the b.ookoi, over time will be added upon, adjusted, refined, retold, re-deconstructed, in a dynamic process, shaped whatever way memories may make them be. ]
ookoi : “Free art!”
No. 131 is an audio companion to the « ookoide », presented at the 2024 ‘Salon‘, the yearly members exhibition of the Amsterdam artist society Ars et Amicitiae on the Rokin (facing the bronze statue by Theresia R. van der Pant of former Dutch queen Wilhelmina riding a horse — 130,000 guilders, paid for by the citizens of Amsterdam, unveiled there in 1972), that opened on the evening of Friday November 29, and can be visited until January 5th, 2025. The « ookoide» basically is a randomized list of 200 Bandcamp codes (also known as ‘yums’), that enable you to download (hence ‘own’) digital copies of the Stdiuo awesome foursome ep's No. 328 and No. 419, for free.
ookoi : “Kunst vrij!”
The list of codes is available as a pretty fold-it-yourself booklet. You may be lucky and get one all-ready-made by one of us, or find somewhere or receive by snail-mail a double-sided A4-page to fold, and then cut it open to free the pages, yourself. But you can also go visit ookoi.nl/yum, download the pdf-file and print it yourself, on the paper of your choice.
In the Art et Amicitiae Salon you can also view the 200 codes parade in about 18 minutes of video while FPCM, almost solemnly, relentlessly, but also with a voice that comes with an immense dose of zest for life, reads every one of them, in Dutch.
It is FPCM's enumeration of the codes, that is the source of No. 131. It is presented and audible there in four ookoi variations: as a seven minute version in four layers; as a joyful sing-along remix; partly reversed, in search of hidden meanings; and as a speculative canon, celebrating the power of form, while taking the art of code to a whole new level.
