[ De foto is uit 1978 en werd, denk ik, ergens in de Pijp genomen. Wie de fotograaf was weet ik niet meer. Ik kreeg in die bandjes jaren heel vaak briefkaartjes van René. Een soort van sms-jes waren dat, die 's ochtends met de postbode arriveerden, hoewel hij gewoon in de Wijtenbachstraat zat, en dat was (bij wijze van spreken) om de hoek. "Ik denk dat er in jouw leven heel wat meer muziek zal zitten dan in het mijne," stond er op één van die kaartjes. Die regel ben ik nooit vergeten. ]
